R Madhavan joins SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu's SSMB29: Reports

R Madhavan bags a new movie

SS Rajamouli's directorial SSMB29 is currently under production, and the lead actors Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra have already filmed several scenes.

However, there have been recent reports that Tamil and Hindi actor R Madhavan has joined the star-studded cast. According to recent reports, Madhavan will play a powerful and pivotal character in this action-packed adventure.

The makers are yet to make an official announcement about the same, but R Madhavan’s casting reports in the upcoming film have already started creating a buzz among the fans.

The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in a pivotal role. Rajamouli, known for Baahubali and RRR, is reported to shoot the film in several exotic locations worldwide to reach the global audience.

The shooting of the film kicked off in January 2025 with Priyanka and Mahesh spotted in Hyderabad and Odisha filming the scenes. Several major action sequences have already been shot.

While further details about casting and plot have been kept under wraps, SSMB29 is expected to blend mythological elements with global adventure, drawing inspiration from Wilbur Smith's novels and the legend of Lord Hanuman. The film is partly set in the holy city of Kashi, for which the production team is constructing grand sets in Hyderabad.

Produced by veteran filmmaker KL Narayana with a staggering budget of Rs 1,000 crores, the upcoming action-adventure SSMB29 is penned by Rajamouli’s father, writer Vijayendra Prasad. The film will likely be released in 2027 in worldwide theatres.

Meanwhile, R Madhavan is currently riding on the success of Kesari Chapter 2 and has a series of thrilling projects in his pipeline. He will next play the role of GD Naidu in G.D.N biopic directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar. The biopic also features Jayaram, Priyamani, and Yogi Babu in the lead roles and is expected to release in 2025.
