Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra, who won accolades for her performance of Amarjot Kaur in Amar Singh Chamkila, for the first time spoke about her reason for choosing Chamkila over Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal.
Parineeti Chopra made an appearance with her politician husband, Raghav Chaddha, for India TV's Aap Ki Adalat on the weekend.
Parineeti spoke about the decision to turn down Ranbir Kapoor's blockbuster Animal and said, "Actually, to be honest, I think the higher power had something better planned for me."
She said at the time, when she had almost signed the dotted line for Animal, a simultaneous offer for Amar Singh Chamkila by Imtiaz Ali came her way.
But it was the enticement of working with ace music director AR Rahman, director Imtiaz Ali, and also getting a chance to showcase her singing skills that made her choose Chamkila over Animal.
Her role of Amarjyot Kaur in Chamkila earned her immense love and critical acclaim.
Parineeti Chopra also shared a nostalgic moment on her Instagram Stories, posting a clip of Amar Singh Chamkila and Amarjot Kaur performing their song Pehle Lalkare live.
Diljit Dosanjh won an award for his role of Chamkila in the movie, which released in April on Netflix.
Chamkila was a biographical drama about the life of iconic Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who was often referred to as the 'Elvis Presley of Punjab.'.
Talking about Parineeti Chopra and Raghav, the couple married on September 24 last year at The Leela Palace Hotel in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The wedding was an intimate affair and was attended by only close friends and family members of the couple.
