In the wake of the horrifying rape and murder of a 31-year-old female trainee doctor at Kolkata's R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, actor and director Parambrata Chatterjee has voiced his concern over the alarming rise in such crimes across the country. Speaking about the tragic incident on Moneycontrol's Instagram handle that occurred on August 9, Parambrata Chatterjee emphasized the urgent need for systemic reforms to address the growing epidemic of violence against women.

"The most important and shocking fact here is that in the last 15-16 days since this incident took place in Kolkata, at least 10 more cases of rape and murder have been reported in different parts of the country," Parambrata Chatterjee stated. He expressed deep concern about the rising number of such heinous crimes, warning that if left unchecked, India risks becoming a hotbed for such violence.

Parambrata Chatterjee called for a comprehensive overhaul of the country's infrastructure, justice system, and investigative processes. He highlighted the need for systemic changes not only in how these crimes are handled but also in the societal attitudes that contribute to such brutality. "There needs to be systemic change in the psychology of people as well," he added, underscoring the need for a cultural shift in how women are perceived and treated in society.

The incident at R.G. Kar Medical College has sparked widespread protests and raised serious concerns about safety within medical institutions. The brutal crime has drawn attention to potential institutional negligence, with allegations of evidence tampering and questions surrounding the role of law enforcement in the investigation.

As public outrage continues to grow, the case has seen significant developments, including the arrest of a key suspect, Sanjoy Roy, and the transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The demand for justice for the young doctor has resonated across the nation, with many echoing Chatterjee's call for systemic change to prevent such tragedies in the future.
