It's a politician's promise: Mirzapur Season 3 release date pushed to August 22 - maybe

Mirzapur Season 3 release date: When will Mirzapur Season 3 release (MS3W) on OTT? Prime Video has launched at least a dozen teasers on X (Twitter) and YouTube around this question since late May 22. The most recent estimate: August 22, 2024.

Prime Video India has been teasing the release of 'Mirzapur Season 3' - the story of two middle-class brothers, Guddu and Bablu Pandit, who step on a slippery slope towards riches and power and get sucked into a tornado of violence - since May 22. A new video on the Amazon Prime Video YouTube channel is the latest in this series of teasers, and not the first time a release date has been suggested for the next season of Mirzapur. The catch: It's politician Jai Prakash Yadav's (Pramod Pathak) promise:

Before JP Yadav's video (in which he seems to be focusing on the season's mangoes more than the release date of the next season), there was house help Radhiya's (Prashansa Sharma) conjecture. The show, she said, was returning on the 23rd. Possibly of this month. Why? Because madam has got three dresses made for the occasion:

Radhiya's guess came soon after Lala, the opium smuggler whose word is as solid as gold, evaded the question: when is Mirzapur Season 3 releasing (MS3W):

Indeed, for weeks prior to this "take it in writing" promise, Prime Video had fuelling expectations that the series #MS3W was returning soon. Sample these:

Kab Bataoge MS3W?

Munna Tripathi (Divyendu) recommended patience on May 23: "sab pataa chal jayega dheere dheere" (all will be revealed in good time)

And Guddu (Ali Fazal) is now focused on the release date, too:

As is Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi):

Like Bablu Pandit (Vikrant Massey), viewers can claim to have tired of waiting now.

When Mirzapur Season 1 dropped in 2018, it became a runaway hit. The scale of Akhandanand Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya's illegal businesses and the ease with which Bablu and Guddu fall into a life of crime rivetted audiences.

After Season 1 wrapped up on a bloody wedding in which Bablu, Guddu's pregnant paramour Sweety (Shriya Pilgaonkar) and the groom were killed, we had to wait two years for Season 2 to drop.

It has now been over three years since Mirzapur Season 2 Episode 10 - King of Mirzapur - dropped in October 2020. At the end of Mirzapur Season 2, more bodies had fallen. Bauji (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) and Munna Tripathi (Divyendu) were dead. Kaleen Bhaiya was heavily injured but had managed to escape.

Guddu and Golu (Shweta Tripathi) have yet to complete their revenge against the country-guns and drugs lord of Mirzapur: Kaleen Bhaiya.
