Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has announced his return to the screens as India's OG superhero, 'Shaktimaan. Fans of the hit show, which premiered on DD National in 1997, were left thrilled with this surprise announcement.
Mukesh Khanna had been teasing fans with many posts before he made the official announcement yesterday.
On Monday, Mukesh Khanna revealed his look to the fans and spoke about the reasons he decided to bring kid's favorite Indian superhero back to the screens.
While talking to news agency ANI, Mukesh Khanna said he has a deep connection with the role and that he is 'happier than others about becoming Shaktimaan.'
"This is a costume within me... I think personally too; in my mind, this costume has come from within me... I did well in Shaktimaan because it came from within me... Acting is all about confidence. I forget about the camera when I am shooting...I am even happier than the others about becoming Shaktimaan again," he said.
When asked about how the response will be as this is a completely new generation, Mukesh Khanna said he feels it is his duty to bring Shaktimaan back.
"I am carrying out my duty that I started in 1997 and which went on till 2005. I think that my work should reach the public in 2027 because today's generation is running blindly. They have to be stopped and told to catch their breath," he told ANI.
Prior to the official release, Mukesh Khanna had teased fans by sporting the Shaktimaan outfit.
Shaktimaan originally aired in 1997 on Doordarshan, and it became one of the most popular
superhero shows in India.
The show ran for more than 450 episodes and is the most loved.
There were reports that Ranveer Singh might be cast as Shaktimaan, but later Mukesh Khanna clarified that he hasn't cast any actor in the role of Shaktimaan. And now, with his return, Mukesh Khanna has put an end to all the speculations.
