Illumination, in collaboration with Steve Carell, has unveiled the "Megaverse," a fascinating expansion of the Minions' story. The latest trailer gives us a glimpse into this new realm, featuring five intriguing test subjects central to the unfolding plot.

Despicable Me 4's official X account recently unveiled a new video. In this clip, Steve Carell discusses how this animated movie marks the start of a new chapter for the super-serum-enhanced minions. Dubbed the "Megaverse," this series includes various "projects" centered around the Mega Minions. Unlike typical superhero franchises that offer merely titles and release dates, the Megaverse goes further by providing comprehensive loglines for each title on its official website.

Several fans of the Minions franchise were quick to spot references from the post on X. The tweets caption that read, “The hierarchy of power in the Illumination universe is about to change,” closely resembles the one to “Black Adam,”’ “The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change.” One fan wrote, “I can’t tell if this is satire or not.” Another wrote, “Shout out to one of the best movie promos I've seen in years! Hilarious!” Fans also claim that the animation studio took a dig at the blockbuster super franchise, “Marvel”’ very own Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A few of the upcoming films from the “Megaverse” is a standalone feature along with 2 other additions starring the Mega Minions. This eagerly awaited film is expected to release in 2027 and will unveil the epic journey of five pint-sized heroes as they strive to earn their stripes in the eyes of the esteemed Anti-Villain League. Additionally a Mega Minions jukebox musical titled “ Mega Minions Mega Musical!” Will be released in 2034, with many more being slated as late 2114.

Despicable Me 4 will emerge as the next chapter in the saga, marking the sixth venture into the whimsical universe. Steve Carell reprises his role as the notorious Gru, while Kristen Wiig returns as the ever-energetic Lucy Wilde. Joining them are familiar voices, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo and Dana Gaier as Edith. Notably, Agnes undergoes a vocal transformation, now portrayed by the talented Madison Polan.

Despicable Me 4 will release in theaters on July 3, 2024.
