After a sluggish start, Akshay Kumar's film "Sarfira" saw a surge in box office earnings over the weekend, but it still ranks as one of his weakest openers in recent times. The critical test for "Sarfira" will be its performance on Monday. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film experienced a 70% increase in earnings on Saturday, bringing in Rs 4.25 crore, followed by a 20% rise on Sunday with Rs 5.1 crore. Over its first weekend, "Sarfira" accumulated a total of Rs 11.85 crore in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Among Kumar's recent films, only "Selfiee" had a lower opening weekend at Rs 10.3 crore.

On Sunday, "Sarfira" had a 26.46% overall occupancy in the Hindi-speaking regions, with evening shows drawing a 41.55% crowd compared to morning and night showings. The film performed notably well in cities like Chennai (40.75% occupancy), Pune (33.50%), Ahmedabad (32.25%), Bengaluru (29%), Mumbai (28.25%), Lucknow (28%), and Jaipur (27.25%). As a Hindi remake of the Tamil film "Soorarai Pottru" (2020), "Sarfira" recorded the lowest opening day for an Akshay Kumar film in the past 15 years, debuting at just Rs 2.5 crore. This is lower than his previous releases "Mission Raniganj" (Rs 2.8 crore), "Selfiee" (Rs 2.55 crore), and "Raksha Bandhan" (Rs 8.2 crore). Since the pandemic, only "Sooryavanshi" (2021) and "OMG 2" (2023) have been profitable for Kumar among his 14 releases since "Laxmii" in 2020.
According to India TV, "Sarfira" was produced on a budget of Rs 100 crore, including print and advertising costs. It was released alongside Kamal Haasan's "Indian 2," which opened at Rs 25.6 crore and collected Rs 18.2 crore and Rs 15.1 crore on its second and third days, respectively. So far, "Indian 2" has amassed Rs 58.9 crore, as per Sacnilk. Directed by S. Shankar, "Indian 2" had a production budget of Rs 250 crore.
