Unsettling. Chilling. Terrifying.
The final trailer of the upcoming and much awaited film Longlegs has just been released. Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage star in this gory serial killer film.
The mystique surrounding the film is still there since the trailers are doing such a good job at showing you horrifying glimpses but still not letting you understand the complete story. Watching the trailer feels being part of a satanic ritual and it is awesome.
The brief trailer doesn’t reveal much new footage, but fresh dialogue adds context to the killing spree known as “The Man Downstairs.” This is one of the aliases for Cage's notorious character, introduced throughout the memorable promotional campaign.
For the past three decades, this monster has eluded capture, leaving behind gruesome murders and cryptic letters, each signed with the film’s title, “Longlegs.” The rest of the trailer provides a fleeting look at the serial killer’s victims, using shifting aspect ratios to hint at different time periods and the home movie-like evidence left behind.
The atmosphere in “Longlegs” is more intense than ever, with various shots showing Monroe’s FBI agent reacting to something off-screen, creating an eerie, supernatural feeling. The camera work makes her seem ghost-like within her surroundings, adding to the unsettling ambiance. This is heightened by the fact that Cage’s character remains unseen, leaving our imaginations to run wild until the film's release when we will finally come face-to-face with the killer.
In "Longlegs," rookie FBI agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is on the trail of a serial killer (Cage) whose reign of terror spans decades. Despite not initially being involved in the case, Lee discovers a personal connection to the chilling events.
The film's marketing campaign, featuring cryptic posters, teasers, a haunting phone number, and an eerie website tracking the murders, has captivated the horror community.
Critics now suggest "Longlegs" exceeds expectations, with some calling it the best serial killer horror film since "The Silence of the Lambs." Directed by Perkins, known for "The Blackcoat’s Daughter," the film also stars Kieran Shipka.
