The song ‘Tu Hai Champion’ from the upcoming Kartik Aryan-starrer sports drama film ‘Chandu Champion’ was unveiled on Thursday. ‘Chandu Champion’, directed by Bajrangi Bhaijaan director Kabir Khan, is a biopic of Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar, and the film will show Kartik in the role of a boxer, wrestler, and soldier.

Murlikant Petkar, born in 1944 in Sangli, Maharashtra, won an individual gold medal in the 1972 Summer Paralympics, in Heidelberg, Germany. While serving in the Indian Army, Murlikant was a tradesman known as a jawan in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME).

Composed by Pritam, the song ‘Tu Hai Champion’, which also features Vijay Raaz as encouraging a weepy Kartik Aryan, following Kartik Aryan’s character promising that he’ll become a “champion”. The song further shows the physical transformation that Kartik Aryan’s character undergoes vis-à-vis the strenuous training as part of the Indian Army.

Arijit Singh lends his voice to the song, along with Amit Mishra with additional vocals by Dev Arijit. The actor’s toned muscles are telling of the fact that Kartik Aryan underwent massive transformation for the song. Kartik Aryan underwent rigorous training for his part in the film, from giving up sugar for over a year to following a strict fitness regimen to lose 20 kg.
