Michael J. Fox once again showed his determination and strength that have characterised him for decades as he made a moving appearance at the US Open in New York on September 7, 2025.

The 64-year-old actor, who arrived in a wheelchair, got up to greet photographers and fans and smiled warmly while he was posing with his wife, Tracy Pollan.

Fox's appeared on the blue carpet wearing a smart blue jacket and a clean white shirt.

His wife of more than 35 years, Tracy, was dressed in a pretty maxi dress with flowers in pink. Following their pictures, Fox slid back into his wheelchair and gave the photographers a modest but meaningful wave.

Footage shared on Instagram by New York influencer Mickey Blank captured Fox’s determination as he walked the carpet with Tracy, drawing praise from fans around the world.

Comments flooded in, with one person writing, “This is grit and determination. Loved him then and even more now.” Another added, “Special and loving couple, you’re both so courageous, Michael and Tracy.” And one viewer reflected, “Seeing this, we should never complain about our minor aches and pains!”

This appearance wasn’t Fox’s first recent public show of courage. Just a month earlier, he marked the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future at an event on Long Island. Additionally, he left fans in tears when he made an emotional surprise appearance on stage with Coldplay at Glastonbury in 2024.

Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at just 29 during the filming of Doc Hollywood, Fox kept his condition private until 1998.

Since then, he has become a passionate advocate, founding The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in 2000 to help find a cure.

Reflecting on living with Parkinson’s for more than three decades at a charity gala in 2024, Fox told Entertainment Tonight, “After 35 years or something since I’ve been diagnosed, this is just my life and I don’t think about it much... Except that I’m thinking about what we’re going to do as a community to figure this out and find a cure – and short of a cure, [create] treatment centres that are really groundbreaking.”

He added, “Me personally, it’s just who I am... My life has been a great ride and it continues to be a great ride. And through all the challenges, it comes with all the good stuff.”

Although he retired from full-time acting in 2020 due to the effects of the disease, Fox is set to return to television in the third season of Shrinking, expected to air on AppleTV+ later this year or early 2026.

The show’s co-creator revealed that Fox’s own journey with Parkinson’s inspired Harrison Ford’s character Dr Paul Rhoades, bringing authenticity and heart to the story.
