Actors Lin Shaye and Amelia Eve are set to star in the highly anticipated sixth instalment in the Insidious franchise. The upcoming film is from Blumhouse and Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems and Stage 6 Films.

According to the entertainment news outlet Deadline, Insidious 6 is slated to release in theatres on August 21, 2026. Directed by Jacob Chase, the upcoming film is penned by the filmmaker alongside David Leslie Johnson.

Meanwhile, plot details and the additional cast updates have been kept under wraps.

However, the outlet has also reported that the production of the sixth part of the horror franchise will kick off in Australia next week.

Insidious 6 is produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Johnson will serve as the executive producers of the project.

Meanwhile, other reports have suggested that Thread: An Insidious Tale will be an expanded spinoff of the franchise. The details of the spinoff are yet to be announced. However, Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani are reported to join the cast.

The movies follow haunted families and paranormal investigators as they fight evil forces from The Further, a sinister spiritual world.

Meanwhile, other films in the franchise include Insidious (2010), Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015), Insidious: The Last Key (2018), and Insidious: The Red Door, released in 2023. Shaye has appeared in all the instalments of the film series.
