Kriti Sanon is stepping into Mukti with the kind of conviction that makes you sit up and pay attention. The trailer for Tere Ishk Mein already hinted at something deeper than a typical romantic lead, and Kriti’s full performance seems to push that promise even further. There is a certain rawness in her eyes, a lived-in intensity in her silences, and a complexity to Mukti that she seems to hold together without ever letting the edges show. It is the sort of role that demands both vulnerability and fire, and Kriti leans into both with confidence.

For her, Mukti is not just another character. It is the result of a long-held wish finally coming true. She explained her emotional connection to the project with a sense of honesty that immediately tells you why this film matters to her. “See, this journey actually started many years ago. Because, I have met Anand sir so many times. And I was after him for years. Sir, I want to do a love story that is directed by you. I think it has always been on my wish list. I love love stories. And I don't know why. There is less love in the world. What is the problem? That love stories started becoming less,” she said. Then came the turning point she had been waiting for: “One fine day. Finally. That opportunity came. That I got Mukti (Pun intended).”

Her fascination with love stories goes beyond the surface. She likes the complications, the emotional knots, the way real relationships move through joy, chaos, and pain. Anand L Rai’s sensibilities match that rhythm, and that is where Kriti found her chance to surrender to the process. She admitted that even though she is usually the “front bencher who finishes her homework,” this time she chose to step into the unknown. “Let's not prepare this time. Let's surrender this time. And slowly, during the shooting, let's find Mukti with him,” she said. That leap into creative vulnerability changed the way she performed. “Completely gone raw. Like a blank paper. And found every color. While shooting.”

Mukti’s journey shifts dramatically through the film. Kriti describes the beginning and end points as almost two different people. Those layers are what drew her in, and they are also what will likely draw the audience in. “For any actor, it's a dream to perform,” she said, hoping viewers connect with the character as deeply as she did.

Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon and directed by Anand L Rai, arrives in theatres on 28 November 2025. The film promises a passionate, layered love story anchored by performances that go straight for the soul.
