As the countdown begins for BTS’s long-awaited return, Jungkook is entering this new chapter with a calm, focused and deeply personal mindset.

Ahead of the group’s fifth full album release on March 20, Jungkook spoke to Rolling Stone UK about how his everyday life has changed, revealing a quieter, more intentional version of himself since returning from military service.

These days, Jungkook’s routine is built around balance rather than pressure. Instead of rushing through packed schedules, he is prioritising his health and creating habits he can stick to. One of the biggest changes has been his approach to food.

He shared, “I’m on a diet these days, eating only one meal a day. That’s why I look forward to that one meal. I get excited thinking, ‘What should I eat today?’ After finally eating, I feel a sense of accomplishment.” What might sound strict has become something comforting, giving him a small daily reward and a feeling of control.

Exercise has also become a grounding part of his life. Jungkook explained, “I’m trying to focus more on my health. I do a lot of exercises like badminton, bowling, and jogging.” For him, these moments are about reconnecting with himself, adding that he likes to “focus solely on myself” while working out. Rather than pushing himself too hard, he believes in showing up every day, even in small ways.

His time in the military played a major role in this shift. Reflecting on that period, Jungkook said, “My perspective on time changed before and after my military service.” He now avoids habits that harm his body, sharing, “I used to drink alcohol, but now I’m making efforts to refrain. I want to use my time more meaningfully and cherish it.” Simple routines have become non-negotiable, as he added, “Consistently doing something small is far more important than making a big effort all at once.”

Beyond physical health, these changes have shaped how Jungkook sees himself. He admitted, “Honestly, I don’t think I’ve become that close to myself, but I realized I need to love and take better care of myself.” For him, self-care is not a grand gesture, but a daily practice.

Being away from music only strengthened his creative hunger. Jungkook shared, “While in the military, I couldn’t work on music even if I wanted to.” That absence reminded him why he fell in love with creating in the first place. Looking ahead, he remains excited about growth, dance and artistic freedom, and about reconnecting with fans. With BTS preparing to return, Jungkook summed it up simply: “Miss you! Looking forward to this year as well.”
