HYBE Corporation has finally lifted the curtain on the long-awaited return of global superstars Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS), confirming their highly anticipated BTS World Tour, which will kick off in April 2026.
While the announcement should have been a purely celebratory moment following the group’s three-year hiatus, the excitement has quickly been tempered by growing frustration over ticket prices.
Details released for the opening concerts in Goyang, South Korea, immediately caught fans’ attention.
Tickets are reportedly priced at 264,000 KRW (around $180 USD) for Soundcheck access, 220,000 KRW (approximately $150 USD) for General R seating, and 198,000 KRW (about $135 USD) for General S seats.
Japanese dates appear even steeper, with VIP tickets listed at 45,000 Yen (roughly $285 USD), SS seats at 35,000 Yen (around $220 USD), and S seats at 25,000 Yen (approximately $160 USD).
As the information spread online, netizens were quick to voice their disappointment, with many questioning whether the prices were fair or reasonable for fans.
As translated by Koreaboo, fans wrote,
“Wow, concert ticket prices are really going to skyrocket now.”
“That’s seriously lacking basic business ethics—what is this?”
“Wow, that’s way too expensiveㅠㅠ But it’ll still sell out, right?ㅠㅠ”
“Looks like they’ve completely lost their conscience.”
“It’s expensive, but since it’s a 360-degree stage, I’m kind of excited—feels like the production will be huge.”
“Wow… this is excessive.”
“Isn’t this bad even for fans??? It’s insanely expensive…”
“It’s wild that people are defending this… wouldn’t it be good if prices went down? Why are people saying not to blame HYBE? Genuinely confused.”
Despite the backlash, anticipation for Bangtan Sonyeondan’s return to the stage remains overwhelming. The tour will begin with a three-day run at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on 9, 11 and 12 April 2026.
The announcement was shared just after midnight on the fan platform Weverse, alongside a poster confirming an ambitious schedule of 79 shows across 34 regions.
Running from April 2026 through to March 2027, the world tour will take Bangtan Sonyeondan across North America, Europe, Oceania, East Asia and South-East Asia.
According to concert promoter Live Nation, the tour is being billed as the “biggest global K-pop tour of all time.”
A major talking point is the introduction of a 360-degree, in-the-round stage design, a first for K-pop stadium tours, which is expected to significantly boost venue capacity and elevate production scale.
The group will also make history by visiting Latin America for the first time, with planned shows in Argentina, Peru and Colombia.
In addition, Bangtan Sonyeondan will mark their 13th anniversary with special performances in Busan on 12 and 13 June 2026, with more dates in Japan and the Middle East still to be revealed.
