Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan starrer Kalki 2898 AD has been doing extremely well at the box office.
The Nag Ashwin directed movie continues to mint money at the box office and now within 11 days of its release, Kalki 2898 AD has earned Rs 500 crore in India.
Kalki 2898 AD was released on June 27 in five languages — Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
According to Sacnilk.com, Kalki 2898 AD collected Rs 507 crore in India alone.
The Telugu and Tamil versions of Kalki 2898 AD collected Rs 242.85 crore and Rs 211.9 crore, respectively. In Tamil, the film has so far earned Rs 30.1 crore and in the Malayalam version the film has collected Rs 18.2 crore, Kannada version has managed Rs 3.95 crore.
Kalki 2898 AD was made with a massive budget of Rs 500 crore.
In an interview with NDTV, director Nag Ashwin said Prabhas always believed in the project. "He really believed in the project from the get-go. He believed even when things were taking too long, even when things were hard. He always believed in my project and in my vision. Even though I was only two films old, he was the biggest cheerleader for the film. He would say, ‘This is going to be massive, it’s going to be bigger than everything.'”
Kalki 2898 AD is inspired from Mahabharata. Set in a dystopian future, the film revolves around four characters - Prabhas who plays Bhairavaa (a bounty hunter), a pregnant woman named SUM-80 (Sumathi) played by Deepika Padukone, who is carrying a child that is believed to be the 10th avatar of Vishnu. The immortal Ashwatthama, played by Amitabh Bachchan, who is the protector of the unborn child. Kamal Haasan plays Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who wants the child dead for he knows the child will end all the negative people.
The film ended on an open note and fans can't wait to see the next part. According to reports, the makers have already shot 20 per cent of the second part but not zeroed in on the release date or year.
