Kajol reveals Karan Johar has called her to launch Nysa

Nysa Devgan, daughter of Bollywood stars Kajol and Ajay Devgn, has become a familiar face on social media, even though she chooses to keep a low profile.

Whether it’s candid paparazzi moments or glamorous snaps shared by her well-known friends, Nysa often finds herself in the limelight.

Naturally, this has led to growing curiosity about whether she might follow in her parents’ footsteps and step into the film industry. But despite the buzz, both Kajol and Ajay have been quite open about the fact that their daughter isn’t looking to become an actor—at least not for now.

During a chat with journalist Shubhankar Mishra, Kajol was asked if her children have been approached for films, especially given her close ties with filmmakers like Karan Johar. She replied honestly, “1-2 phone aaye hain (I have gotten a couple of calls).”

Kajol went on to explain, “But, I think, currently, my daughter is definitely not coming into movies, and if she wants to do whatever she wants to do, she will tell us, and we are with her 100 per cent, whatever she wants to do.”

This isn’t the first time Kajol has addressed the topic. Speaking at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025, she said, “Bilkul nai..no, I think..vo 22 saal ki ho gaye hai..hone wali hai abhi.. I think she has made up her mind that ki nai aane wali hai abhi (Absolutely not... no, I think... she has turned 22... is about to, actually... I think she has made up her mind that she’s not going to enter films right now.")

Ajay Devgn has echoed this sentiment too. On Koffee with Karan Season 8, he was just as candid: “Right now, she doesn’t want to be (an actor). I don’t think she wants to be, but tomorrow if something changes, they will run a 20-year-old interview that Ajay Devgn said this, but right now, there is zero per cent chance.”

Still, that hasn’t stopped fans—and even some industry insiders—from hoping. Earlier this year, fashion designer Manish Malhotra shared a stunning photo of Nysa in a lehenga, captioning it, “Nysa Cinema Awaits you.” The post quickly went viral. Kajol responded with heart emojis, while Nysa’s friend Orry added, “Can’t wait for your debut @nysadevgan,” complete with heart-eyes.
