Janhvi Kapoor talks about working with Neeraj Gheywan again after Homebound

Janhvi Kapoor is currently enjoying the praise that her movie Homebound received at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. She has publicly praised renowned filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan in recent interviews, and this is her first collaboration with him.

In a candid conversation with Deadline Hollywood, Janhvi revealed the profound impact Homebound’s script had on her. She explained that she was immediately drawn to the story and knew she wanted to be involved in any capacity.

The actress described working with Neeraj as a long-held dream, praising him as one of the country’s finest directors and stating, “every actor hopes to work with him.”

Janhvi even shared a touching message she sent to Neeraj after wrapping the film: “Even after I finished shooting for this film, I messaged him and said that ‘I don’t mind if I need to play a tree in the background of your next film; I just need to be in it.’” For her, being on set under his direction was a tremendous honour.

During its world premiere, Homebound received an incredible nine-minute standing ovation and was screened in the 78th Cannes Film Festival's prestigious Un Certain Regard section. International critics have praised the performances as well as the story.

This is Neeraj Ghaywan's second feature and his second Cannes submission. The main cast members are Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa. Along with co-producers Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. Notably, Martin Scorsese is involved as executive producer, which raises the project's profile even more.

In addition to the film's success, Janhvi has caused a stir with her eye-catching Cannes appearances, serving up some significant fashion moments that enthralled both festival goers and viewers around the world.
