Hyde suggested that the concept of Cenat's event was too similar to the next season of "Fishtank" and criticised the scheduling of the event.

Internet comedian Sam Hyde has claimed that Twitch sensation Kai Cenat has ‘copied' his concept for a Hunger Games-inspired event. Hyde pointed out that the storyline for the upcoming season of his show Fishtank closely parallels Cenat's idea.

The new season of “Fishtank", titled “Fishtank All-Stars Vampire Bloodgames,” is set to premiere on June 25. This season will take a dramatic turn by featuring six former winners who will be placed in a forest and "hunted" by vampires at night.

Hyde criticized the timing and resemblance of Cenat’s event, suggesting it closely mirrors the premise of "Fishtank"’s upcoming season. “We spent months and millions [of dollars] making a Hunger Games season, and they’re copying it lol… they will continue to pretend we don’t exist!” Hyde exclaimed.

On May 10, the trailer heralding the project with claims of "real life FPS gameplay" and "real life survival," suggesting an experience that is both more gripping and immersive for players and spectators alike dropped.

On May 23, 2024, not long after the trailer's debut, Cenat revealed his plans for a Hunger Games-inspired event. Kai Cenat unveiled his ambitious plans for a professionally organized and live-streamed Hunger Games-themed event. He aims to pit 50 prominent content creators against each other, incorporating drones and "combat suits" into the competition. Cenat also expressed his intention to collaborate with Jimmy "MrBeast," YouTube’s most subscribed creator and an international media phenomenon, to make the event a reality.

Hyde’s “Fishtank” show, inspired by “Big Brother”, involves participants being confined in a house for six weeks, with every moment broadcast live.

Hyde also took a dig at Cenat by mocking the influencer on X writing, “If u guys wanna see OUR hunger games follow @fishtankislive we're going live June 25th & it's gunna be killer. Trailer right here playas”

Netizens however displayed a sense of support to the Twitch streamer over the comedian. One person replying to Hyde’s tweet wrote, “this isn’t a “hunger games” scenario tho? hunger games is a battle royale.. you presented a hunters vs with more steps.” Another wrote, “Idk man theirs sounds much cooler.” One fan also heavily critiqued the trailer writing, “No offense but..This is the least Hunger Games trailer I've ever seen in my life fam, I would have NEVER known the idea was Hunger Games unless I read ur bit b4 hand.. it's like u threw a dart towards the other side of your house instead of the board.”
