Christopher Nolan's much-awaited remake of Homer's fabled story, The Odyssey, has finally been released by Universal Pictures.
The official trailer was captioned, “A film by Christopher Nolan shot entirely with IMAX film cameras. Watch The Odyssey trailer and experience the film in theatres 7 17 26.”
In the teaser, Odysseus and his men are shown becoming stranded and making their perilous return home. In addition, Alexander and his warriors can be seen inside the notorious Trojan horse, which was previously hinted at in a six-minute movie shown before Imax 70mm screenings of Sinners and One Battle After Another.
Odysseus travels via land, by sea, and through caverns, one of which is home to a menacingly enormous beast that lurks in the shadows. Additionally, there are fleeting glimpses of Anne Hathaway as Odysseus' wife Penelope and Tom Holland as his son Telemachus.
The film also features Matt Damon, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo and more in the pivotal roles.
The movie depicts Matt Damon's portrayal of the Greek hero Odysseus as he makes the arduous journey home following the Trojan War. In February, Universal published a first-look image of Damon dressed in costume.
Together with his wife, Emma Thomas, Nolan created the screenplay and produced the movie in addition to directing it.
After winning the Best Director Oscar for Oppenheimer, this will be Christopher Nolan's first motion picture. In that movie, Cillian Murphy played J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is an adaptation of the ancient Greek epic poem of the same name and revolves around Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War.
Homer's epic poetry, The Odyssey, describes Odysseus's treacherous return home following the Trojan War. He uses cunning and perseverance to fight monsters, temptation, and fate.
The Odyssey is all set to hit the theatres on July 17.
