  • Messages show Swift's support and discuss film controversy involving Lively
  • Judge undecided on Lively's harassment case against Baldoni going to trial

Newly unsealed text messages exchanged between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have become part of the high-profile legal dispute involving actor–director Justin Baldoni, shedding light on their private conversations amid an escalating Hollywood feud.

The messages were revealed in court filings in New York City as Baldoni’s legal team prepares to argue whether Blake Lively’s lawsuit should proceed to trial. Lively, known for her role in Gossip Girl and other major films, filed a federal lawsuit against Baldoni in late 2024, alleging sexual harassment, retaliation and the creation of a hostile work environment on the set of the 2024 romantic drama It Ends With Us. Baldoni has denied the allegations and countersued Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, for defamation and civil extortion — though his countersuit was dismissed by a judge last year.

Among the documents made public are several candid exchanges that reveal how Swift — a longtime friend of Lively’s — responded to updates about the situation. In April 2024, when Lively sent Swift a link to the It Ends With Us trailer that featured Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet,” the singer joked, “Welcome to Hollywood Justin,” and the pair discussed how the inclusion of the track might affect public perception of the film and its controversies.

Other messages show more personal moments between the two stars. In December 2024, Lively wrote to Swift that she felt she had been distant and “like a bad friend” amid the stress of the case. Swift responded that she understood how overwhelming the battle could be, describing the tone of some exchanges as feeling impersonal and corporate — a remark that hinted at tension beneath their support for one another.

While many texts depict Swift offering encouragement and unwavering support, Baldoni’s lawyers have argued that the exchanges indicate strategic use of Hollywood influence and high-profile connections — a point Lively’s legal team disputes, saying the focus should remain on her core harassment claims.

The judge has not yet ruled on whether the case will be dismissed. If it proceeds, it could go to trial in May 2026, drawing further scrutiny on the roles of fame, friendship and power dynamics in Hollywood disputes.
