Sarah Snook did not walk into the 2026 Critics Choice Awards expecting to hear her name called — and that surprise made her win all the more genuine and endearing.
The Succession star, 38, took home the Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television award for her gripping performance in All Her Fault.
The category was packed with strong contenders, including Jessica Biel for The Better Sister, Meghann Fahy for Sirens, Michelle Williams for Dying for Sex, Robin Wright for The Girlfriend and Renée Zellweger for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, making the win far from a foregone conclusion.
When Sarah Snook stepped onto the stage on Sunday (January 4), it was immediately clear she had not planned for this moment.
Snook openly admitted she had not written a speech and had barely processed why she was even there. Sharing a moment from earlier in the evening, she told the audience, “My husband was like, 'You seem a bit distant,' in the car on the way here, and I was like, 'Yeah, I just had forgotten what we were doing, and I didn't write a speech or anything, and I'm just trying to go through some things now.’”
The nerves only grew once she arrived. “And then I forgot when we got here again, 'cause it was so nice to see everybody, and now I've gotten up here, and I'm regretting all of it,” she added, prompting laughter and warm applause.
As the clock ticked down and panic briefly set in, Sarah Snook focused on the heart of the experience rather than polished thank-yous. Reflecting on the project, she said, “We had an awesome time with the crew, shooting really great stuff, and I think that's the main thing, is just having a great time while we're shooting, cause we're just playing pretend.” She wrapped things up with a refreshingly informal farewell: “Thanks very much. This is really great. Thank you! Bye!”

In Peacock’s All Her Fault, Sarah Snook portrays Marissa Irvine, an affluent mother whose world unravels when her young son vanishes during a routine playdate. What begins as a frantic search quickly turns into a sharp examination of motherhood, privilege and blame, as suspicion and media scrutiny close in.
The 31st Critics Choice Awards, broadcast live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on E! and USA Network, delivered plenty of polished moments.
