Recent rumours claiming that Disney and Marvel Studios have cut ties with Mark Ruffalo surfaced online this week, with several social media posts and videos linking the alleged move to his 2026 Golden Globes speech.

The claims quickly went viral, leading to widespread confusion among Marvel fans regarding the actor’s future as the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

However, reports suggesting that Disney or Marvel fired Mark Ruffalo over his 2026 Golden Globes speech remain unverified and have not been officially confirmed. According to OtakuKart, these claims are unsupported by any formal statements from the studios or coverage by major entertainment trade publications.

Mark Ruffalo, best known for portraying the Hulk in the MCU, has previously drawn criticism from right-wing circles due to his outspoken political views. During a recent appearance on the Golden Globes red carpet, he spoke out against military aggression and interventionism. Ruffalo stressed the importance of humane action over violence and war, calling for greater emphasis on global peace rather than conflict.

He went on to strongly criticise US President Donald Trump, describing him as “the worst human being in the world” and accusing him of disregarding international law. Ruffalo said that while he loved the country, the current situation felt “not America,” adding that remaining silent no longer seemed like an option.

In the aftermath of the speech, claims emerged suggesting that Ruffalo had lost a major Marvel contract. However, these allegations lack credible sources and verification.

As reported by OtakuKart, the notion that Ruffalo was “fired” can be traced back to a long-running Marvel fandom joke from 2018.

During a Tonight Show segment that year with Jimmy Fallon, while promoting Avengers: Endgame, Ruffalo jokingly appeared to spoil the film’s title. In response, directors Joe and Anthony Russo posted a tongue-in-cheek message on social media saying, “Mark, you’re fired.”

The exchange was part of a staged comedy bit, but screenshots of the tweet later circulated without context, eventually morphing into a rumour.

Despite his continued success, Ruffalo has often faced backlash for his progressive views. He has drawn criticism from certain sections of the audience for his involvement in projects focused on female superheroes, including She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel. These projects, frequently labelled “woke” by detractors, have fuelled divisive debates around representation and diversity in media.

Mark Ruffalo remains officially associated with Marvel Studios, and any speculation about his departure from the MCU has so far been linked to creative decisions and story arcs, not disciplinary action.
