At the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on January 11, comedian Nikki Glaser, hosting the ceremony for the second consecutive year, delivered a sharp and humorous opening monologue that included a memorable roast aimed at Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio.
Nikki Glaser highlighted DiCaprio’s decades-long, critically acclaimed career — starring in countless films, working with legendary directors, and earning multiple Golden Globes and an Academy Award — before delivering a punchline about his personal life that had the room in stitches.
Nikki Glaser quipped that the most impressive thing about DiCaprio’s career was that he accomplished all those milestones “before your girlfriend turned 30,” a reference to the actor’s well-known pattern of dating younger women.
“What a career you’ve had,” said Glaser on stage. “Countless iconic performances, you’ve worked with every great director, you’ve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar, and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30.”
The joke drew laughter from many in the audience and prompted a good-natured reaction from DiCaprio himself, who smiled, laughed, and acknowledged the joke with a thumbs-up.

In classic roast fashion, Glaser immediately followed the quip with a self-aware apology, admitting the joke was a bit “cheap” but explaining she struggled to find another personal detail to tease given DiCaprio’s famously private off-camera life. She even joked that the most in-depth interview he’s given was in Teen Beat magazine decades ago, leading to more laughter from the crowd.
