James Bond films set to stream on Netflix in surprise Amazon MGM licensing deal

Fans of the legendary James Bond franchise are in for a major treat as a surprise licensing deal between Amazon, MGM Studio,s and Netflix will see several films stream on Netflix beginning January 15, 2026.

Amazon, which acquired MGM and its extensive film library in 2022, has agreed to license a selection of its Bond titles — including Die Another Day, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and No Time to Die — to Netflix for a three‑month window across key regions including the United States, Europe and Latin America.

The strategic licensing pact also extends beyond the Bond franchise. Other Amazon‑owned hits like Rocky, Creed and Legally Blonde are set to join Netflix’s streaming lineup alongside acclaimed Amazon originals.

Experts say the unexpected move reflects a broader shift in content distribution, where studios are more open to lending high‑profile catalogues to rival platforms to maximise reach and revenue. Earlier this year, Amazon MGM licensed other titles such as Hunters to Netflix for extended streaming, indicating a renewed focus on third‑party partnerships.

Chris Ottinger, Head of Worldwide Distribution at Amazon MGM Studios, said, “When Amazon acquired MGM, Amazon planned to continue licensing MGM’s iconic library to streaming and television partners around the world. Bringing these iconic films and shows to Netflix is part of that continued strategy.enter James Bond remains one of the most enduring and influential franchises in cinematic history, and alongside other beloved titles in our library like Hunters, among other series, this agreement reflects the continued global appetite for premium storytelling and the strong working relationship we’ve built with Netflix.”

Netflix subscribers in participating territories will be able to watch these beloved Bond adventures in the early part of 2026, giving viewers a rare opportunity to revisit classic 007 action on one of the world’s biggest streaming platforms.
