The Hollywood superstar’s night took an unexpected turn when he was spotted chatting and laughing with Sydney Sweeney, whose recent film Christy had left audiences a little underwhelmed.

Some fans playfully warned Cruise, with one X user commenting: “Tom, run away from her.” Others were more optimistic, joking, “They should hook up.”

In honour of his decades of commitment and contributions to the film industry, Tom Cruise was present at the Governors Awards to accept an Honorary Oscar. He greeted photographers and fans with his usual warmth and ease.

Sydney Sweeney, meanwhile, was also the centre of attention after she looked stunning in an off-the-shoulder silver gown that accentuated her figure.

Despite facing criticism in recent months—including a string of flops and a controversial American Eagle ad with the tagline “blue genes, the best jeans,” which some deemed “racist”—she held her own on the red carpet.

Tom Cruise, Debbie Allen, and production designer Wynn Thomas recieved Honorary Awards from the 16th annual Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences event, which is regarded as a must-attend event for those vying for awards.

Dolly Parton will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
