Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin struggles with PTSD after fatal Rust shooting

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin's wife Hilaria Baldwin, reflected on the actor's “darkest moments” after the accidental death of Rust cinematographer on set, in the first episode of his family's new reality series on TLC.

Hilaria revealed during the episode that Alec Baldwin was diagnosed with PTSD after the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins.

According to People, during the February 23 episode of The Baldwins, Hilaria shared that he had been diagnosed with PTSD. She mentioned that in his darkest moments, he often questioned why he had survived the accident, wondering why it couldn’t have been him instead.

Ahead of its Sunday premiere on TLC, a screener of The Baldwins was shared with the press, revealing how the couple candidly discussed their efforts to protect their children from the impact of the tragic event while also reflecting on the emotional burden it placed on them individually.

As reported by CNN, Alec Baldwin reflected on the most challenging moments of the “terrible” year leading up to his trial, admitting that there were times he lay in bed thinking, “Wow, I can’t get up.” “That’s not like me,” he said. “I’m not like that at all – not in any way am I like that, ever.”

Alec vowed to do his best to cope with the situation, acknowledging the pain it had caused Hilaria and the impact it had on her. Hilaria also shared that those closest to the Supercell star had witnessed his mental decline, noting that his OCD had worsened since the incident.

For those unfamiliar with the incident, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins lost her life on October 21, 2021, during the filming of a Western movie when a prop gun held by Alec Baldwin discharged.

Baldwin was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter, but the 66-year-old pleaded not guilty. After a prolonged legal battle, the case was ultimately dismissed in 2024.

The first episode of the series takes place just before the trial begins, capturing the Baldwin family as they celebrate the birthday of one of their seven children. Earlier in the episode, Hilaria Baldwin shares her sorrow over the tragedy, expressing deep sympathy for everyone affected, particularly Hutchins' family.
