Henry Cavill, who stepped out of the shoes of Superman, has recently been injured on the set of Highlander. The film's production is likely to be delayed following the actor's injury while training.
According to Deadline, Henry was injured during pre-production while training for the film. The actor has suffered an unspecified injury that’s serious enough to delay filming. The production of the film was scheduled to start by the end of this year. However, Henry's injury has pushed the production to 2026.
Directed by Chad Stahelski, known for John Wick, Highlander stars Henry Cavill in the titular role of MacLeod. The film also features Russell Crowe as Ramirez and Dave Bautista as the savage warrior named The Kurgen.
The new version of Highlander will be produced by Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt alongside Neal H Moritz, Stahelski’s 87Eleven Entertainment, Josh Davis of Davis Panzer Productions, and Louise Rosner. The film will be presented under Amazon and MGM’s United Artists banner. The script is penned by Michael Finch.
For the unversed, the original Highlander film was released in 1986 and starred Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, a Medieval Scottish Highlander who discovers he is an immortal warrior.
The film revolves around the titular Highlander, an immortal Scottish swordsman who must confront the last of his immortal opponents, a murderously brutal barbarian who lusts for the fabled "Prize".
Meanwhile, Henry Cavill is extremely private about his personal life. The actor welcomed a baby girl with his girlfriend, Natalie Viscuso, in January. Henry and Natalie have been dating for over three years and made their red carpet debut in October 2022 at the premiere of Netflix’s Enola Holmes 2 in New York City.
On the work front, Henry was last seen in In the Grey, which also starred Eiza González and Jake Gyllenhaal in the key roles. The actor has exciting projects in his pipeline. He is also gearing up for Enola Holmes 3, The Rosie Project and Warhammer 40k.
