Member of Parliament Hema Malini spent Thursday at the Delhi Secretariat, where she met Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for a conversatioRekhn centred on the capital’s development and the everyday issues faced by its residents.
The meeting, described as warm and constructive, highlighted a shared focus on collaboration and keeping governance closely tied to public welfare.
The Chief Minister’s Office later shared glimpses of the interaction on social media, noting, “On this occasion, a meaningful discussion took place on various contemporary issues.”
Photographs released from the meeting showed Member of Parliament Hema Malini and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in relaxed conversation, reflecting a cordial and respectful exchange between the two leaders.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had also marked World Cancer Day by attending the ‘Jan Jan Jage, Cancer Bhage’ campaign at the NDMC Convention Centre.
She was joined by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Pratap Rao Jadhav, underscoring the government’s emphasis on public health awareness and community engagement.
Away from official meetings, Hema Malini has recently found herself navigating an unexpected wave of online attention. A short video from a sports event in Mathura began circulating on social media, showing her distributing medals with a calm and reserved expression.
While the moment was brief, it quickly sparked criticism from some users who felt she appeared unsmiling or distant, turning an ordinary public appearance into a talking point online.
Rather than letting the commentary linger, Hema Malini addressed it with grace a few days later in Mumbai, where she stepped out to vote in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections. After casting her vote, she took time to interact with photographers and the media, offering a gentle yet pointed response to the criticism. Smiling for the cameras, she said, “I am smiling, okay? Now don’t complain that I don’t smile,” a remark that struck a chord with many and softened the tone of the online conversation.
The video in question was taken on January 12 during an MP Sports Competition in Mathura, where Hema Malini was present in her role as a BJP Member of Parliament.
The clip captured only a fleeting moment, and several observers later noted how easily such snippets can be misunderstood when removed from their wider context.
Despite the brief social media storm, Hema Malini has continued her public duties with poise.
She was among many prominent figures from the film industry who turned out to vote in the BMC elections, alongside Twinkle Khanna, John Abraham, Divya Dutta, Tamannaah Bhatia, Akshay Kumar and Kiran Rao, reinforcing the importance of civic participation beyond the spotlight.
