In an incident that has sent shockwaves across Bollywood, two unidentified assailants fired gunshots outside actor Salman Khan's Bandra home in Mumbai early Sunday.
Following the incident, Salman Khan's brothers Sohail, Arbaaz, sister Arpita, brother-in-law Ayush Sharma were all spotted arriving at his Galaxy apartment flat and stayed there till late at night on Sunday.
In the latest development, Delhi Police sources have said that one of the suspects is believed to be a criminal from Gurugram.
According to a report in The Times of India, one of the gunmen is wanted in many killings and robberies in Haryana. He was the main suspect in the killing of a businessman named Sachin Munjal in March this year.
The sources said that the pillion rider shot in the air and shells were also recovered from the spot. It seems that the shooter had used a 7.6 bore weapon for the firing.
Forensic team was also seen outside the spot and they have collected the empty shells for further investigation.
A few hours after the incident, Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol claimed responsibility for the shooting.
In a post on Facebook in Hindi, he said: "We want peace. If the decision against oppression is by war, so be it. Salman Khan,we did this to show you the trailer. So that you understand our capabilities. Don't test us. This is the first and last warning to you. After this, the bullets won't be fired just at empty homes."
The TOI report further said that intelligence sources are scanning movements of shooters linked to the Bishnoi gang.
The police have spoken to Salman Khan's family and they will record their statements too.
According to the CCTV footage, both suspects, who were seen firing at Salman Khan's residence, were wearing caps to hide their identity and also had backpacks.
One of the suspects is seen wearing a white T-shirt, black jacket and jeans, while the other one is seen sporting a red t-shirt with denims.
Earlier on Sunday, Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde also spoke with Salman Khan and later in the day MNS chief Raj Thackeray was also seen visiting Salman at his residence.
Salman Khan's father and writer Salim Khan also spoke with IBN News, saying it was a mere "publicity stunt".
“There is nothing to tell. They just want publicity, there is no need to worry,” he said.
Salman Khan already has Y-Plus security and it was reviewed recently after new threats in November 2023. Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had said that Salman Khan was on the target list of Lawrence Bishnoi.
