Virat Kohli, the renowned cricketer and owner of the One8 Commune restaurant in Bengaluru, finds himself in a spot of legal trouble after an FIR was filed against his establishment. The police took action because the restaurant allegedly continued serving customers past the permitted closing time of 1 am on July 6th.

Located on MG Road in Bengaluru, the One8 Commune is part of Virat Kohli’s chain of restaurants that has gained popularity in several major cities across India. Its Bengaluru branch, situated on the sixth floor of Ratnam’s Complex near the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium, offers scenic views of Cubbon Park and attracts a diverse clientele.

The incident leading to the FIR occurred when the Cubbon Park Police discovered that the restaurant was still operating at 1:20 am, despite regulations that require pubs and restaurants to close by 1 am. This violation prompted the police to take action against the restaurant’s manager and other staff members responsible for its operation that night.

"We have booked around 3-4 pubs for running late till 1:30 am last night. We received complaints of loud music being played. Pubs were allowed to remain open only till 1 am and not beyond that," said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Central Bengaluru.

The One8 Commune in Bengaluru, which opened in December of the previous year, has quickly become a favored spot for dining and socializing. Its popularity stems not only from its association with Virat Kohli, who is deeply connected to the city through his involvement with the local IPL team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, but also from its inviting ambience designed to foster a community-oriented experience.

The restaurant’s decor features elaborate sectional sofas and Instagram-worthy elements such as neon-lit signage. It caters to various groups of patrons, including couples on romantic outings, families, and friends celebrating special occasions. Due to its popularity, it sometimes experiences large crowds, necessitating patrons to wait or return at a later time.

Despite its recent entry into the Bengaluru market, One8 Commune has managed to carve out a niche for itself among the city's dining options. Its location near prominent landmarks like Cubbon Park and the M Chinnaswamy Stadium adds to its allure, making it a preferred destination for both locals and visitors.

The FIR against the restaurant highlights the importance of adhering to local regulations governing operating hours, especially concerning noise levels and public disturbance late at night. Such incidents serve as reminders to businesses to comply with these rules to maintain harmony with their surroundings and ensure public safety.

Virat Kohli, known for his cricketing prowess and entrepreneurial ventures like the One8 Commune, has yet to comment publicly on the incident. As the legal proceedings unfold, it remains to be seen how this issue will impact the restaurant’s operations and its standing among patrons in Bengaluru’s vibrant culinary scene.
