Indian filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has recently found himself entangled in trouble following his controversial remark over the Brahmin community. He has since issued an official apology, but a new police complaint has been registered against him at Oshiwara Police Station, Mumbai.
According to IANS, RTI activist Atish Tiwari filed the complaint against the filmmaker for hurting the sentiments of the Brahmin community. The FIR has been lodged under sections 194 and 198 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 67 of the IT Act.
Atish Tiwari claimed in his complaint, “My client stated that as a member of the Brahmin community, we are deeply anguished and disturbed by the accused's recent comments, which go beyond criticism and enter the realm of hate speech and public abuse.”
The complaint added, “His repeated use of vulgar, derogatory, and caste-targeted language not only defames an entire community but also fosters an environment of hostility and mistrust."
It continued, "It is deeply unfair and unjust to single out a community with centuries-old cultural and spiritual heritage, reducing them to slurs and stereotypes in the name of dissent or artistic freedom. No individual or group deserves to be spoken about in such an indecent and dehumanizing manner."

The filmmaker received huge backlash following his “casteist and derogatory” remark targeting the Brahmin community. He previously wrote on his social media, “Brahmin pe main m*******a...koi problem?” in reply to a follower’s comment that read “Brahmins are your father.”
However, Kashyap later tried to clarify that his comment was taken out of the concept in the apology and wrote, “This is my apology not for the post, but for the one line taken out of context and the brewing hatred. The filmmaker also claimed that his family members were being subjected to rape and death threats in the aftermath.
