Balaji Telefilms warns against fake casting scams

On Wednesday, Ekta Kapoor’s production house released a clear statement warning newcomers against fraudulent casting agents misusing the company’s name.

The official note named two individuals allegedly operating fake Instagram accounts under the handle pooja_castingdirector. They were claiming to be Assistant Casting Directors for Balaji Telefilms.

Refuting this outright, the statement read, “Balaji Telefilms Limited hereby clarifies that Instagram account holders Vishal and Pooja, operating under the name pooja_castingdirector and claiming to hold the designation of ‘Assistant Casting Director’ with our organisation, have no affiliation whatsoever with Balaji Telefilms. We unequivocally disassociate ourselves from this individual and strongly condemn any attempt to misuse our company’s name or reputation to take undue advantage of aspiring actors.”

The production house stressed that casting for its projects only happens through official, verified channels. “All casting for Balaji Telefilms projects is carried out solely through our official and verified channels. We urge aspiring talent and the general public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with such fraudulent representations,” it added.

To make sure the message reached as many people as possible, Balaji Telefilms also shared the warning on its official Instagram account, captioned, “Important Notice: Any account claiming casting authority outside our official channels is fraudulent. Your dream deserves safety. Don’t fall prey to fake casting calls. Always verify. #BalajiTelefilms.

Ekta Kapoor herself reshared the post on her story, giving the notice extra visibility and weight.

While addressing the safety of aspiring talent, Ekta Kapoor is also back to creating television history. Her iconic daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi returned after 17 years with original leads Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay reprising their roles.

The reboot features familiar faces like Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan alongside a fresh ensemble. The new season premiered on 29 July and airs at 10:30 pm on Star Plus, with streaming available on JioHotstar.
