Crime Patrol Actor Sapna Singh recently staged a protest in Bareilly following the tragic and suspicious death of her 14-year-old son.
The incident has taken a shocking turn as police have arrested two of his friends in connection with the case. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the boy's demise, while Sapna, seeking justice for her son, has urged the authorities for a thorough and unbiased inquiry.
She concluded her protest on Tuesday after over 90 minutes, following an assurance from the police that appropriate action would be taken in the case.
Officials reported that Sagar Gangwar's two adult friends, identified as Anuj and Sunny, were arrested on charges of murder and sent to jail on Wednesday.
"The postmortem report could not confirm the exact cause of death but indications of poisoning or drug overdose have been found. Viscera samples have been preserved for further examination," Circle Officer (Faridpur) Ashutosh Shivam said.
Bhuta Police Station Inspector Sunil Kumar added, "Anuj and Sunny confessed during questioning that they had consumed drugs and alcohol with Sagar. The overdose caused Sagar to collapse. Panicking, they dragged his body to a field and left him there."
According to the police, Sagar, a Class 8 student, had been living with his maternal uncle, Om Prakash, in Bareilly's Anand Vihar Colony.
His body was discovered Sunday morning near Adalakhia village in the Izzatnagar police station area.
A postmortem was initially carried out under the assumption it was an unidentified case. However, an official revealed that Baradari police had registered a missing persons report on December 7, filed by Om Prakash.
After the body was identified, CCTV footage from the area revealed Anuj and Sunny dragging Sagar, prompting their detention, the official stated.
