BTS' SUGA completes his social service, apologises to ARMY for 'hurting' them amid his 2024 DUI

SUGA was landed in controversy after his DUI in 2024

BTS member SUGA has officially completed his mandatory military service on June 21. The singer has returned to his social media and shared his first post for his ARMY. SUGA also apologised to his fans for hurting them with his drink-and-drive controversy.

SUGA took to his Weverse and penned an emotional letter for his fans. He started his letter by greeting his fans and wrote, “Hello, armys, nice to meet you. It's me, Suga. It's been like 2 years. How have you all been doing. I'm greeting you all after a long time since I'll be officially completing my service today. It's also a day I've been waiting for, and since it's been a really long time, I thought a lot about how to greet you.”

The rapper and music producer then expressed gratitude towards his fans for their unwavering support and said, “First of all, before anything, I'd like to say sincerely thank you very much to you all for waiting till now. I really missed you.”

SUGA further noted that he also needed time to think about himself and step away from his work. He wrote, “I've spent the past 2 years thinking deeply about myself. I also felt the need to take a step back— especially from the work I'd been doing for so long-and distance myself (and look at it).”

While reflecting on taking a step back, he added, “All this time, I've only been focused on moving forward, barely taking the time to look at myself, but this period gave me the opportunity and time to look back at myself.”

SUGA then issued an apology over his 2024 drink-driving incident and disappointing his fans. He also noted that he was disappointed with himself more than anyone else for hurting his fans. He also apologised to his band members who had to suffer because of him.

The note reads, “Armys, thank you and thank you again for waiting. And I'm sorry for causing disappointment and worries with the incident last year. More than anything, I was upset by the fact that I hurt you all. I was also very sorry to the members who had to go through a heavy heart in each of their positions because of me.”

The singer concluded his message with a promise to work harder and try his best to repay the love that fans have continued to give him despite the difficult situation. He also reassured his fans that he will stay in touch.

He wrote, “In the future, we will try our best to repay the love you have given us. I love you. Everyone, I'll keep you posted from time to time.”

For the unversed, SUGA kicked off his social service in December 2023 and officially completed his enlistment this Saturday. He is expected to soon reunite with his band members, RM, Jimin, Jin, V, Jungkook, and J-Hope.
