A Chinese woman is now facing possible indictment after allegedly attempting to trespass BTS member Jungkook’s home in Seoul, police confirmed on Sunday. The incident reportedly took place in June, just days after the singer was discharged from his mandatory military service.
According to police reports, the woman, in her 30s, tried entering Jungkook’s Yongsan District residence late at night on June 11, pressing the keypad door lock multiple times. Authorities were alerted by a security guard who saw her following a car into the parking area. She was immediately apprehended at the scene.
The woman told police she was visiting South Korea specifically to see Jungkook, claiming she did not live in the country. She was officially transferred to prosecution last week, on August 27, without detention, as the investigation continues.
This marks the second such incident involving the youngest BTS member. Earlier this year, in June, a similar case was reported when a Chinese woman attempted to punch random numbers into the digital lock of Jungkook’s home.
Yonhap News reports that the most recent incident occurred around 11:20 pm on a Saturday night. The authorities are still questioning the woman regarding her intentions, while no official motive has yet been confirmed.
Fans of BTS have expressed concern over the repeated safety breaches, highlighting the pressures K-pop idols face even after returning from mandatory service. Jungkook, who was discharged alongside fellow member Jimin, has largely stayed out of the public spotlight since completing his military duties.
Authorities continue to stress the importance of reporting suspicious behavior and ensuring the safety of celebrities in Seoul. The case will now proceed through the South Korean legal system, and the woman could face charges for attempted home intrusion and trespassing.
