BTS member Jungkook, often hailed as the “Golden Maknae,” recently sparked an unexpected wave of concern among his global fandom, ARMY, over something as tiny as a mole. The under-lip mole, fondly nicknamed the “Choco Chip” by fans, became the centre of a major online discussion after Jungkook revealed a new piercing during a surprise Weverse live.
On August 30, Jungkook went live without prior notice, attracting an astonishing 17.7 million viewers within two hours. During the session, he gave fans a tour of his new apartment, sang casually, worked out, and even had bandmate V join him for a short while.
armys real reaction after knowing that jungkook’s underlip mole is safe and alive, we as a fandom has grown to such a crazy level of insanity yall 😭😭 pic.twitter.com/qw6zRvO57e— mnisoo ⋆ (@kkukvmin) September 3, 2025
The highlight, however, turned out to be his new piercings—especially the one below his lip. While ARMYs admired his ever-evolving look, many grew concerned that the new jewellery might have covered or even replaced his beloved under-lip mole.
The mole, often praised as one of Jungkook’s most charming facial features, appeared less visible during the broadcast, leaving fans slightly worried. Social media quickly filled with posts speculating whether the piercing had permanently hidden it. For many, the mole wasn’t just a mark, it was part of Jungkook’s signature charm.
However, just two days later, on September 1, Jungkook reassured fans unintentionally during another live stream held on his birthday. As the lighting shifted, viewers were relieved to spot the mole clearly, proving it was indeed still there.
Almost instantly, the phrase “Jungkook’s mole is safe and alive” began trending worldwide. Fans flooded platforms like X (formerly Twitter) with zoomed-in screenshots and celebratory posts. One fan wrote, “Jungkook’s choco chip mole was found healthy, safe, and looking very pretty under his lips.” Another commented, “Glad we didn’t overreact—his mole is safe and sound.”

Having completed his mandatory military service in June, Jungkook is now focusing on music again. Alongside RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V, he is preparing for BTS’s highly anticipated comeback album slated for 2026. Until then, even his smallest features—like the “Choco Chip” mole—continue to keep fans talking.
