Varun Dhawan made sure Sanya Malhotra felt the love on her birthday, celebrating her in his own unmistakably playful style.

On 25 February, the actor shared a light-hearted Instagram story for his Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari co-star, giving fans a glimpse of the easy friendship they share off screen.

Posting a fun video featuring Sanya Malhotra, Varun Dhawan accompanied it with a cheeky shayari that read, “Arz kiya hai, na main poet na tu meri muse, phir bhi tere reel dekhe mein na tujhe de diya pach-chhe views".

He added the caption, “Happy Birthday Santa Malhotra ji," instantly bringing smiles to fans who are well aware of his fondness for humour.

Sanya Malhotra, meanwhile, continues to be celebrated not just for her charm but for her craft. Over the years, she has carved a niche for herself by choosing roles that challenge convention and demand emotional depth. From critically acclaimed performances to commercial successes, she has proved her versatility time and again.

Her achievements include a National Award and a Best Actress honour, reflecting both industry recognition and audience appreciation.

The on-screen pairing of Varun Dhawan and Sanya Malhotra in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari added another dimension to their camaraderie.

Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions, the romantic comedy also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Rohit Saraf. The film explores contemporary love and family dynamics with a dose of drama and humour.

In the story, Sanya Malhotra plays Ananya, the ex-girlfriend of Varun Dhawan’s Sunny. In a standout trailer moment, Sunny proposes to her dressed as Prabhas from Baahubali, only to face rejection. What follows is a mischievous plan involving Janhvi Kapoor’s Tulsi.

At the trailer launch in Mumbai, when Sanya Malhotra was not present, Varun Dhawan joked, “Why did you say no to me, Sanya? Is it because you are a National Award winner?" He then added warmly, “I want to work lots more with her and I think she’s someone who’s just amazing. Very few of these come through and she’s one of them. Thank you."

Released in October 2025 after earlier delays, the film marked a lively collaboration between the two.

Looking ahead, Sanya Malhotra is set to appear in Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar alongside Bobby Deol, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
