Nitesh Tiwari's grand epic Ramayana has already created a lot of buzz among the fans since its announcement and after the makers released the first look. Now what has caught everyone's attention is a BTS pic featuring actors Kunal Kapoor and Navneet Malik using the latest VFX technology.

While the project had already been promoted as adopting the latest tech and VFX innovations, these are the first images showing the actors in special motion-capture suits, complete with dots on their faces — a technique reminiscent of Hollywood blockbusters like Avatar and Avengers.

Kunal Kapoor's appearance in motion-capture gear in the pictures draws attention to the mystery surrounding his role as Indra Dev in the movie. Curiosity was further piqued when Navneet Malik's picture from the Ramayana set appeared online.

These images suggest that Ramayana may be using cutting-edge motion-capture and visual effects technology to vividly depict its mythological world, much like James Cameron's Avatar franchise.

There has been speculation that the film's visual experience will be more spectacular and immersive than ever before due to the sight of actors wearing these high-tech suits.

Fans eagerly await the release of Ramayana, hoping that the blend of epic storytelling and state-of-the-art technology will deliver a cinematic experience of unprecedented scale.

In a recent conversation with SS Rajamouli, Avatar: Fire and Ash director James Cameron spoke about the use of technology in filmmaking and its potential for the next generation of creators. Cameron told Rajamouli, "I think we should reduce the barrier of entry of young people coming in as filmmakers, VFX, maybe generative AI can help with that."

Meanwhile, Ramayana boasts an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Kunal Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, and several other actors. The film will be released in two parts, with Part 1 scheduled for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 planned for Diwali 2027.
