Mallika Sherawat reveals her diet and lifestyle secrets

Mallika Sherawat, who recently turned 49, continues to redefine fitness goals with her disciplined lifestyle and holistic approach to wellness.

The actress, who celebrated her birthday in Goa, shared that her secret to staying fit and radiant lies in consistent yoga practice, a plant-based vegan diet, and mindful eating habits, as against extreme routines or quick fixes.

Mallika revealed that she has been a vegan for several years, cutting out all animal and dairy products from her meals. Her daily diet revolves around fruits, salads, and her favourite Thai green curry.

She explained to Bollywood Hungama, “I mainly eat fruits, salads, and Thai green curry as part of my daily routine. Additionally, I avoid milk, lassi, paneer and cheese.”

Her mornings begin on a naturally sweet note with fresh fruits. “My breakfast is usually a lot of fresh fruits,” she said, adding that mango is her all-time favourite fruit. When it comes to dessert, Mallika keeps it simple, she only eats dates.

The actress also shared her love for vegetables, especially bhindi (okra). “I like bhindi a lot. Bhindi, of course, I prefer it in a vegetable form, in a cooked form, but a lot of green salads and avocado. I also like a lot of avocados. I like Thai green curry because it's made with coconut milk, and it has the right kind of spices,” she added.

In her earlier interviews, Mallika had expressed her belief in clean eating and home-cooked meals. She told IANS, “I was always a vegetarian and for the last 10 years I have been a vegan. I think what our grandparents used to eat was real food, full of nutrition. Now there is so much pollution and pesticides; the quality of food has gone down. We have to be careful about what we consume nutrition-wise.”

She also mentioned that she avoids eating outside and prefers to snack on nuts while steering clear of gluten. “I eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables, green juices and nuts. I prefer nuts as snacks and strictly avoid gluten,” she said.
