Fans hoping to catch the first teaser for Dhurandhar 2 attached to the theatrical release of Border 2 on January 23, 2026, were left disappointed, but director Aditya Dhar has now clarified exactly what’s happening.
Contrary to earlier speculation — which saw social media abuzz with the idea that the Dhurandhar 2 teaser would premiere on the big screen ahead of Sunny Deol’s war drama — Aditya confirmed the teaser wasn’t released alongside Border 2 and will instead be unveiled in the coming days.
The clarification came via Aditya Dhar’s Instagram Stories, where he responded to fans asking about the teaser’s status. While he didn’t give an exact date, he reassured followers that the teaser would be out “in a few days,” noting the excitement around the sequel’s promotional rollout.
The decision to separate the teaser’s release from Border 2 screenings appears to be a strategic move to build more anticipation for Dhurandhar 2 rather than using it as a cinematic attach.
Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal and others, became one of 2025’s biggest hits after its December debut, and its success has set high expectations for the sequel — titled Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge — currently slated for a March 19, 2026 release. The sequel teaser has already been certified with an A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification, indicating it may contain mature content consistent with the franchise’s intense action and thematic elements.
Before Aditya’s clarification, many fans believed the teaser would debut in cinemas with Border 2, a practice common in Bollywood where big releases help amplify marketing reach for upcoming films.
“Border 2 has been one of the biggest openings of this season,” one fan post noted, explaining why audiences assumed the crossover. However, official sources and Dhar’s update dispelled that expectation.
Dhurandhar follows Hamza (played by Ranveer Singh), an undercover Indian agent who infiltrates Karachi’s criminal and political underworld in Pakistan as part of a covert mission. To dismantle terror networks and disrupt organised crime operations, Hamza assumes a Pakistani identity and works his way deep into the city’s gangland, facing off against ruthless gang leaders, hostile forces, and intelligence threats.
