In connection with a high-value theft at actor Abhimanyu Singh's residence, the Mumbai Police have arrested a 40-year-old man with a prior criminal record. According to a report by news agency PTI, citing police officials, stolen valuables worth Rs 1.37 crore have been recovered.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Mohan Rathod, a resident of Palghar district. He was tracked and apprehended following sustained technical surveillance by the police.

Investigations have revealed that Rathod is allegedly involved in at least 14 other theft cases registered across Mumbai and its adjoining regions.

According to officials, the burglary occurred at Abhimanyu Singh’s bungalow, located in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West), on the intervening night of December 29 and 30. The accused allegedly gained entry into the house through a bathroom window and fled with gold, diamond and silver ornaments, cash, as well as the safe in which the valuables were stored.

The incident came to light after the actor’s 82-year-old mother lodged a complaint, following which an FIR was registered against an unknown person. Acting on technical inputs, a police team traced the suspect to a locality in Palghar. The area was kept under surveillance for two days before Rathod was arrested on Tuesday.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly told police that he had handed over a portion of the stolen ornaments to a jeweller, while the remaining valuables were kept at his residence. Based on this information, police recovered stolen items worth Rs 1.37 crore, the official added.
