In recent months, the Andhra Pradesh government has been granting temporary approvals for ticket price hikes ahead of major theatrical releases, aiming to support producers in recovering their investments.
The eagerly awaited Vijay Deverakonda film Kingdom is the most recent to capitalise on this trend.
According to recent reports, Kingdom, which is supported by Suryadevara Nagavamsi under the Sithara Entertainments umbrella, has had its ticket prices raised by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Many producers have been actively advocating for these increases, particularly for high-profile films, claiming that higher ticket prices, especially in the early going, help defray the costs of production and advertising.
As part of this ongoing practice, theatres in Andhra Pradesh are now allowed to raise the price of Kingdom tickets by 50 for single screens and 75 for multiplexes, GST included. Ten days after the movie's July 31, 2025, release date, this updated pricing will go into effect.
After the producers of the movie filed a formal appeal, supported by the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, the approval was given.
With this decision, Kingdom joins the growing list of Telugu films in 2025 that have secured similar pricing relief, including HIT 3, Robinhood, Kannappa, Kuberaa, and others.

These approvals are seen as a strategic move to give producers and distributors a financial edge during the crucial opening week at the box office, and could play a pivotal role in enhancing Kingdom's commercial success.
Speaking of Kingdom, the upcoming thriller delves into the plight of refugees during the post-independence Sinhala-Tamil unrest, tracing the journey of a leader who emerges from turmoil. Vijay Deverakonda plays a man uprooted from his homeland by childhood trauma.
