Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman has strongly condemned the baseless rumors and defamatory content spreading on social media after the announcement of his separation from his wife, Saira Banu. The couple, who were married for 29 years, cited “significant emotional strain” as the reason for their decision to part ways, as stated in a joint announcement on November 19, 2024.
Music composer AR Rahman has issued a legal notice to "all slanderers." On Saturday, November 23, he shared a three letter legal letter on X (formely known twitter), demanding that all YouTube channels remove videos alleging an affair with his bassist, Mohini Dey.
Earlier this week, both AR Rahman and Mohini Dey announced their separations from their respective partners within hours of each other, sparking conspiracy theories and rumors about an alleged affair between the two.
Rahman voiced his disappointment over the circulating rumors, stating, “These fabricated stories and speculative interviews are hurtful, not just to me but also to my family. This is a blatant attempt by content creators to gain attention at the expense of someone’s personal life.”

Rahman initially announced the separation through an emotional post on X, writing, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again.”
