Ameesha Patel, who gained fame with her debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, recently shared her thoughts in an interview on the ongoing superstar debate in Bollywood.
She expressed the opinion that Ranbir Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, and Kartik Aaryan are among the "last of the superstars," signaling the end of an era.
Ameesha noted that the entertainment landscape has changed drastically, and the dynamics of stardom are evolving, with the rise of new media platforms and changing audience preferences. She believes these actors represent the last generation of traditional Bollywood superstars who have the power to draw massive audiences to theaters.
While talking to India Today, Ameesha mentioned, “After Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, Ranbir, Hrithik, and Kartik are definitely carrying the legacy forward, that’s it. I feel that’s where it might end. They’re the ones truly delivering, and it’s scary to think about what will happen to Bollywood after them."
"When a Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, Ranbir, or Hrithik release a film, there’s this expectation that it has to match up to their previous blockbusters. But realistically, it’s impossible for every film to be a colossal hit. Success like that is rare. Every film can not be a blockbuster." She continued.
While addressing the current generation of actors, Ameesha Patel shared her perspective on the shift in Bollywood's stardom dynamics. “I think Kartik is fabulous. Ayushmann Khurrana has done some outstanding work, and Rajkummar Rao has broken the mould to become almost like a mainstream hero. Shraddha Kapoor is also doing some great work."
She went on to say, “Ayushmann has taken bold steps—whether it be playing a bald man or dressing as a woman—and made them work. Similarly, Kartik has proven his ability to deliver hits consistently. Hats off to both of them for taking risks and making them count."
In a recent Interview, the Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic actor also mentioned that she never rejected the film Chalte Chalte with Shah Rukh Khan but she was never informed about it from her secretary.
On the work front, Ameesha Patel made a striking return to the screen with Gadar 2, where she starred alongside Sunny Deol. The film not only achieved massive success but also set new benchmarks at the box office.
