Actress Amulya's brother Deepak Aras, dies at 42 due to kidney failure

Kannada filmmaker Deepak Aras, brother of former actress Amulya, passed away at the age of 42 on Thursday, October 17, due to kidney failure.

Deepak had been struggling with health issues for several years, and his condition deteriorated, leading to his tragic demise at a private hospital in RR Nagar, Bangalore. His passing has left a deep void in the Sandalwood film industry and his family.

Deepak Aras is survived by his wife, two children, and a large extended family. His body was brought to his home in Vyalikaval, and the final rites are being held today (October 18) in his native village, Nagamangala.

The news of his untimely death has sent shockwaves through the Kannada film industry, with many artists and colleagues from Sandalwood arriving to pay their respects and offer condolences. Amulya, deeply affected by her brother's passing, was seen standing by his body, visibly emotional.

Deepak Aras was known for his contributions to Kannada cinema, having directed notable films such as Manasology (2011) and Sugar Factory (2023). Manasology starred his sister Amulya in the lead role and told the story of a violin teacher, Sihi, who falls in love with Manas through phone conversations.

The film took a dramatic turn when Sihi’s father tries to hide the news of Manas’ death from her, a story that resonated with audiences and showcased Deepak’s directorial talent.

His most recent project, Sugar Factory, was a romantic comedy-drama set in Goa’s pub culture. The film, released in 2023, starred Darling Krishna, Sonal Monteiro, Ruhani Shetty, and Rangayana Raghu. It was Deepak's last film, and reports suggest he had plans for new projects, but his untimely death cut those dreams short.

Deepak Aras will be remembered for his creative contributions to Kannada cinema and the legacy he leaves behind.
