Allu Arjun was taken into custody in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case.

Allu Arjun has been remanded to 14 days of custody in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad.

Allu Arjun, the star of Pushpa 2, had approached the Telangana High Court seeking the quashing of the criminal case filed against him in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede at a Hyderabad theatre during the release of his blockbuster film. The actor was taken into police custody on December 13.

The police have opposed Allu Arjun's bail plea, while the actor has sought interim bail. The High Court has requested an explanation as to why Allu Arjun should not be sent to jail.

Meanwhile in the latest development, the victim Revathi's husband, who had filed the case, has said that he is ready to withdraw the case.

"I am ready to withdraw the case. I was not aware of the arrest and #AlluArjun has nothing to do with the stampede in which my wife passed away," said Revathi’s husband, Bhaskar.

On December 11, Allu Arjun approached the Telangana High Court, seeking the quashing of the FIR filed against him in relation to the woman's death. After his formal arrest, Allu Arjun was taken to the state-run Gandhi Hospital for medical examinations.

His motion was heard in the court at 4pm on December 13. The Public Prosecutor had strongly objected to the motion being heard between 1 pm and 1:30 pm, pointing out that lunch motions are typically considered in the morning. He argued that since the lunch motions of other petitioners were not taken up at this time, Allu Arjun's motion should not be treated as an exception.

Justice Sridevi agreed with this viewpoint, but senior counsel S. Niranjan Reddy, representing the actor, insisted that the motion should be heard and promised to present valid reasons when the court took it up. As a result, the court decided to address the matter at 4 pm.

A heartbreaking incident unfolded at Sandhya Theatre on the night of December 4, where a 35-year-old woman tragically lost her life, and her eight-year-old son was critically injured after a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of actor Allu Arjun. Following the tragedy, the city police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint filed by the family of the deceased, Revathi.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Hyderabad Police earlier announced the arrest of three individuals: the co-owner of the theatre, the senior manager, and the in-charge of the lower balcony.
