Laapataa Ladies has been designated as India’s official submission for the Oscars 2025 in the Best Foreign Film category. This decision was made unanimously by a 13-member committee chaired by Assamese director Jahnu Barua.
Aamir Khan, the film's producer, expressed his excitement upon hearing the news. He extended his gratitude to Kiran Rao, the entire team, Netflix, and the selection committee. While talking to the media, he said, "We are all so happy with the news. I am so proud of Kiran and her entire team. I would like to thank the selection committee of the Film Federation of India, which chose our film to represent India at the Oscars."
He concluded his statement by expressing appreciation for the viewers and media for their steadfast support and encouragement. "My heartfelt gratitude to our audience, our media, and the entire film fraternity, for all the love and support they have given Laapata Ladies. Thanks to both Jio and Netflix who have been great partners to work with. I am so happy that all our hard-work has paid off. Thank you everyone. Here’s hoping that Laapata Ladies is able to win the hearts of the members of the Academy," he concluded his statement.

Actress Pratibha Ranta takes on the role of Jaya Singh, while Sparsh Shrivastava portrays Deepak Kumar. Nitanshi Goel plays Phool, in a film directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan.
