Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and South Indian legend Rajinikanth are reportedly set to reunite on the big screen, 30 years after their last collaboration in the 1995 film Aatank Hi Aatank.
The news has generated significant excitement among fans, with reports suggesting that Aamir will make a special appearance in Rajinikanth's upcoming film, Coolie.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Tamil films, with a big budget and an impressive star cast. While official confirmation is still pending, media outlets like Track Tollywood have reported that Aamir Khan's role will be a cameo rather than a full-fledged part. This marks the first time in three decades that the two stars will share the screen, making the project even more intriguing for their fans.
Initially, the role of the lead antagonist in Coolie was supposed to be played by Nagarjuna, but due to unforeseen circumstances, Kannada actor Upendra Rao was cast instead. The film also boasts an ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shruti Haasan, and Rana Daggubati, who will play pivotal roles alongside Rajinikanth.

Interestingly, Coolie was rumored to be a part of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Cinematic Universe (LCU), but the director has clarified that it is a standalone film. Fans of the LCU need not worry, as Lokesh has confirmed that more films in the universe, including Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2, are in the works. However, Coolie is set to be a unique project that stands apart from his other works.
The shooting of Coolie began in July 2024 in Hyderabad, with the film expected to hit theaters in the second half of 2025.
Meanwhile, both Aamir Khan and Rajinikanth are busy with other projects. Aamir is working on Sitaare Zameen Par, a Hindi remake of the Spanish film Champions, starring opposite Genelia Deshmukh. Rajinikanth, on the other hand, is gearing up for Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel
