Why PM Modi chose this iconic Kanyakumari rock memorial for meditation after end of Lok Sabha campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will head to Kanyakumari after concluding the weeks-long Lok Sabha election campaign for meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial from May 30 to June 1.

PM Modi's spiritual sojourn will come just days before the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results on June 4.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election too, PM Modi had taken a similar trip to the Kedarnath shrine before the final phase of the elections and meditated at a cave.

Interestingly, it is the same site where Swami Vivekananda meditated in 1892 and had a vision of Bharat Mata.

People believe that like Sarnath holds a special place in the life of Gautam Buddha, this rock also assumes similar importance in the life of Swami Vivekananda. He arrived at the site after wandering across the country and mediated for 3 days before he attained a vision for a developed India.

It is said that Goddess Parvati had also meditated at the same place on one foot as she waited for Lord Shiva.

Kanyakumar forms the southernmost tip of India and is the place where India’s eastern and western coastlines meet.

It is also the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea.

The Prime Minister's visit to Tamil Nadu just before the results is also symbolic since he has actively campaigned in the state to help BJP gain a foothold in south India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been promoting Tamil culture and language during his campaign speeches for the Lok Sabha elections.

He also visited several temples, including the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple and the Kothandaramaswamy Temple in the state ahead of the April 19 elections.
