Mandate Bihar: NDA leads on 130 seats, Mahagathbandhan on 65, early trends show

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has taken a considerable lead as early trends indicate. According to News18, the NDA has taken a lead on 130 seats and the Mahagathbandhan are on 65 seats. Within the NDA constituents, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is slightly ahead of Janata Dal United (JD(U)).The BJP is leading on 59 seats and JD(U) ON 54 seats.

However, according to the trends being showed by the Election Commission, the BJP is leading on five seats and the RJD is leading on two seats.

Additionally, early trends across platforms  show the NDA comfortably crossing the halfway mark while the INDIA bloc trying to play a catch-up game. The high-stakes verdict has intensified political sparring, with chief Minister Nitish Kumar declaring, “Just a few hours of waiting, and the good-governance government will return.”

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, meanwhile, cautioned officials to ensure a fair process, saying, “Our party workers are alert and present at the counting centres. If any official tries to repeat the mistakes of 2020, crosses their limits, or acts on someone’s directions with malicious intent, the public will give a strong response…”

Postal ballots gave the NDA a cushion, with very early trends showing the ruling alliance leading in over 90 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav's RJD, was ahead in over 55 seats. Prashant Kishor’s fledgling Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) opened with leads in three constituencies, and Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM was up in one seat.

Most exit polls have given the NDA a clear edge over the Mahagathbandhan, setting the stage for what could be one of Bihar’s most closely watched results in years. The results will determine the fate of 2,616 contestants across 243 constituencies.
